Position Purpose:
Support the various departments with Bill-of-Material management and new item creation using the configuration system.
Translate and transfer engineering data into product matrices for the configuration system.
Create and maintain configuration system models using product matrix data.
Essential Functions:

• Create, maintain, and validate product components and bill-of-materials for both standard and generic products using engineering matrices and drawings. Maintain generic item master information and other defined tables and fields in the configurations system.
• Review and complete change requests for bill-of-material updates, drawing revision levels and obsoleting part numbers from the configurations system. Work closely with engineering and materials controls departments prior to release of change notices.
• Create and maintain logic for dynamic product structures and dynamic formula structures in the configurations system.
• Create and maintain appropriate queries, tables, and matrices using data from the configurations system and other sources.
• Work closely with engineering group to develop and maintain product matrices and options catalogs for the configurations system.
• Work closely with customer service to communicate changes to available product selection as project folders are completed and assist with configuring products.
• Work closely with all departments to trouble-shoot and rapidly correct problems with the configurations system.
• Provide assistance in creating and updating configurations training manuals.
• Participate on project teams when appropriate. Provide project teams with guidance to ensure projects conform to configuration requirements.
• Interact with shop floor to verify bill-of-materials
• Provide support and assistance when necessary to all departments.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

• Associates degree in relevant Engineering Technology or equivalent of two years relevant work experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working with engineering drawings required
• Computer programming experience preferred
• Logic based systems and data mining experience preferred
• Ability to write queries and extract data from configurations systems and other data sources
• Ability to analyze mechanical assemblies
• Ability to work with engineers to determine assembly logic
• Ability to write and define assembly logic using Boolean operators in the configurations system
• Ability to gather information from various sources and analyze its accuracy
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Excel functions
• Strong knowledge and understanding of engineering configuration matrices
• 2D and 3D CAD experience preferred
• ERP/MRP experience preferred, QAD experience preferred
• Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required
• Understanding of engineering parts and assemblies, models and drawings, and their structure
• Understanding of bills of materials
• Understanding of drafting techniques
• Understanding of engineering terminology
• Understanding of weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts
• Ability to complete mathematical calculations
• Ability to use digital cameras and/or 3D software to make illustrations
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to generate new ideas
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem
• Ability to communicate effectively with others using the English language, bilingual ability preferred
• Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
