Job Responsibilities



Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Construction Inspector Supervisor for immediate work (start date of mid-March to early April) for a two (2) season project in the Pittsburgh area
with experience consistent, but not limited to:

  • Performing field inspections on various types of transportation construction projects that may include roadway or bridge improvements, stormwater drainage, pedestrian safety improvements, and traffic signal improvements.
  • Supervising on-site field inspectors (consultant) and project documentation on roadway, structure, or other public improvement projects.
  • Serving as a reference for subordinate project inspectors regarding industry-related questions, standards, specifications, as well as project-related guidance
  • Reading and referencing construction plans, specifications, and associated contract documents as integral part of daily work.
  • Communicating and coordinating project issues with contractors, project owner, project designer, internal project team, and the public to advance project goals.
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations for the purpose of contractor payments and project documentation.
  • Monitor contractor performance to obtain quality final work product while complying with federal, state and local safety regulations.
  • Witnessing material acceptance tests and sampling with concrete, asphalt, aggregate and soil as determined by project needs.
  • Preparing timely, clear, and concise daily field reports that documents contractor work operations, calculates payments for work completed, and includes supporting photographs, calculations, references and associated sketches.
  • Working alternate shifts (when necessary), as dictated by the requirements of the project contract and/or the contractor’s schedule of work operations to meet project deadlines; and may include night shift, shifts including weekends and shifts including overtime.
  • Working outdoors in differing work conditions, including varying weather conditions, uneven ground, unpaved surfaces, and within highway work zones, including close proximity to moving traffic and large construction equipment
Responsibilities and Salary based on level of qualifications


 
Required Attributes:


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable mode of transportation
  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in transportation construction inspection
  • NICET 2 Certification in Highway Construction
  • NECEPT/PennDOT Concrete and NECEPT Asphalt Certifications
  • Proficiency in PennDOT’s ECMS- Engineering and Construction Management System
  • Proficiency with iPads, PennDOT mobile applications, laptops
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (outlook, excel, word, etc.)
  • Applicants should have good verbal and written communication skills, and basic math skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and be physically able to perform field-related work tasks. 
  • Be of high character, dependable, and ability to work both independently and as a team.
Preferred Attributes
(Attributes that aren’t required for hire but would set a candidate apart)
:


  • Five (5+) or more years of supervisor experience
  • NICET 3 or 4 Certification in Highway Construction
  • Additional industry certifications/trainings such as OSHA, Nuclear Gauge Operator, Coatings Inspections, Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, Hazardous Materials, PennDOT or PA Turnpike Documentation, etc.
  • Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
