Are you interested in helping people of all different backgrounds understand and learn to use new technologies? Are you interested in giving people ways to develop, define and explore their identities and how they can express themselves in the Metaverse and across social apps?The Avatars & Identity team builds the Meta Avatars system to support users across Meta's social apps and the Metaverse to embrace and explore identity, expression and social presence. This team works with cross-functional teams to expand on representation and modes of expression, and to make it easy and fun to edit, customize, and use avatars wherever people want to. You'll guide a team of content designers to help design these core experiences, ensure design and legal integrity, and enhance the systems and standards to scale this work across multiple spaces. You will collaborate as a Design leader with Product Design, User Research, Art, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and other roles in a highly cross-functional team environment. You'll be a strong advocate for content design as an integral part of product design.You're a good fit for this role if you:* Love to build teams and team culture from the ground-up* Aren't daunted by complex product ecosystems and rapidly changing priorities that require flexibility and agility* Can establish strong collaborative relationships with your cross-functional partners* Are a UX practitioner who can co-lead overall design direction* Enjoy the challenge of partnering with and influencing other content and product teams at Meta to produce high-quality work* Have experience in privacy, integrity, identity or other systems solver roles* Can influence partners and priorities with a user-focused perspective* Like building the craft of content design, through standards, terminology, design systems, tone and voice.* Are comfortable making decisions with incomplete data and operating in ambiguity* Have some experience with two-sided marketplaces or gaming UX* Are flexible to accommodate working across various time zones (PT, ET, and UTC/GMT (London))

Content Design Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team that delivers on multiple projects or programs across regions or business groups.
  • Build internal community (for example, drive inclusion, onboard new employees, and connect people on your team with new opportunities).
  • Provide regular performance feedback, check-ins and reviews for people who report to you.
  • Coach team members to increase their impact, develop their strengths and grow their careers.
  • Build the teams and skills necessary for long-term growth, both within and outside the organization.
  • Help to recruit highly talented people to join the content design team, and onboard cross-functionally.
  • Provide content design for complex features for the global Meta audience.
  • Actively build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop lightweight, repeatable processes, workflows and content templates that keep the team nimble and successful in a culture that values moving fast and iterating quickly.
  • Share your own work and give feedback to teammates in a variety of settings.
  • Promote content design at Meta and in the broader design and content communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in content design or a related field
  • 5+ years experience directly managing, coaching and developing full-time employees
  • Experience building teams over time through hiring, growing, and retaining high-performing employees
  • Knowledge of social and mobile experiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years experience working with product teams
  • Experience influencing product strategy with cross-functional partners
  • Experience establishing a content design team, or equivalent, within an established organization
  • Established as a thought leader within content design or other relevant industries
  • Knowledge of virtual reality and gaming
