Position Summary

Under the direction of the Plant Manager and Foreman, the Control Room Operator will run and monitor plant operations from a centralized location.

Requirements

• Start, monitor, and regulate as needed plant processing equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Adjust equipment programming to maximize production
• Generate work requests using maintenance planning program
• Maintain daily production reports. Exchange daily information with others
• Monitor/Maintain load out area and operate mobile equipment as needed
• Learn to safely operate mobile and plant equipment, including skid steer, front end loader, etc., if needed
• Conduct pre-shift equipment/plant inspections and complete required paperwork accurately
• Follow all safety rules and MSHA regulations, policies and procedures
• Must be safety conscious in accordance with Martin Marietta policies and procedures
• Assist in plant operation and repairs to plant equipment
• Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility
• Other duties as requested

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in the building materials industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software
• Team oriented, able to work in a fast paced environment
• Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipment
• Must be able to work irregular shifts and work days/nights and weekends as required

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner. This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection
• Must be able to work in confined spaces
• Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment
• Lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs
• Will work in varied environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions)
• Exposure to raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants
