Controllership Analyst

YOUR ROLE

As a successful Controllership Analyst, you will possess integrated problem solving ability and a process management background. You will be comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative information and can think critically to identify and propose solutions in an organized and transparent manner. You will have an understanding of the regulatory environment and the importance of strong processes and controls as it relates to the Claims organization.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and monitor the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools and governance processes
  • Partner with Claims Associates to coordinate remediation efforts which includes monitoring claims and performing system updates
  • Monitor the data exchange with our external and internal data consortiums
  • Monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation tools including internal controls
  • Source, aggregate, analyze and summarize operational risk data
  • Prepare analysis of operational risk exposure events, maintaining documentation and proactively work to resolve
  • Perform back-testing for significant operational losses and support remediation
  • Maintain up to date SOPs on control processes and appropriate documentation needed for internal and external audits including SOC1 and SOX
  • Perform data analysis for targeted risk reviews, regulatory reviews and ad hoc requests

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years of Finance, Risk, Audit or Operations Experience
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to run SQL Code and have a basic understanding of coding
  • Aptitude for coding; either VBA, SQL or SAS with a desire to be proficient within 6 months
  • Strategic & analytic orientation: Ability to think strategically and address wider root causes for future benefits. A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics, quantitative and qualitative.
  • Strong executive communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication and the ability to reach consensus in a win-win style
  • Clear results orientation: Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals with the ability to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
  • Analytics and Monitoring: Proven ability to identify issues, develop reporting, complete necessary updates, provide monitoring of progress and put controls in place
  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to multitask to organize and prioritize workload within a complex environment with competing and subtle resource demands
  • Proactive attitude to tackling a variety of issues and topics on a daily basis
  • Business Objects/Spotfire experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in related field
  • Claim operations experience
  • Genworth product and process knowledge
