Controls Engineer Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Troubleshoot problems with processes and hardware
• Demonstrate proficiency at reading and understanding electrical drawings
• Demonstrate proficiency in reading and understanding PLC programming, including ladder logic and structured text
• Coordinate with Engineering and Operations in order to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions
• Provide technical assistance as needed by internal customers
• Manage relations with vendors
• Define performance metrics
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Prepare project estimates and budgets
• Organize and provide training for new control systems

Controls Engineer Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
• 3 to 5 years of work experience in a related field
• Proficient in computer-aided design and drafting software
• Good communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong math skills
• Ability to determine internal customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
• Ability to interpret and implement specifications based on customer needs
• Ability to design control systems, including specifying and sourcing components, designing wiring schematics, and programming PLC's and HMI's
• Ability to specify and implement various types of sensors and vision systems
• Ability to program servo drives and robots
• Familiarity with AC and DC motors and controllers
• Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing equipment and processes
