Job Description Summary

This position performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses hand and power tools. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment.

Job Description

  • Demonstrates proper use of power tools (tool room provided). Use of drills, impacts, grinders, tachometers, calipers, Hilti drills, strobe light, pipe threader, also including proper use of all hand tools required by provided list.
  • Demonstrates proper housekeeping continuously to insure safe and clean conditions in all areas of his/her
  • Responsibilities including tool cart and lockers.
  • Demonstrates and complies with all Lockout/Tag out Policy and procedures.
  • Acquires within 60 shifts of job assignment, ownership of the proper tools for the job. List provided by maintenance lead.
  • Identifies and explains potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
  • Close jobs / Complete job notes in SAP after work order is finished.
  • Proficient at using Arc Flash safety equipment.

  • Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Must be certified and possess demonstrated ability to safely utilize a forklift and high lift.
  • Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous electrical functions
  • Ability to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus's and fixtures
  • Complete the Richland New Hire Training Module
  • Able to run conduit and pull wire.
  • Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Completion of HAZWOPER safety training course.
  • Attended at least one Central Safety Meeting with an MTL.
  • Completion of Confined Space Entrant/Attendant coarse.
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation and equipment.
  • Understanding of motor controls.
  • Capable to be on shift with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of location of all electrical equipment.
  • Basic understanding in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, and meggers to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Have formal training or experience in mechanics, electricity, electrical schematics, with an understanding of instruments and controls
  • Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the state and federal levels
  • Demonstrate accuracy to assist with SAP BOM development and growth while possessing a high level of competency in SAP use.
  • Able to use computer efficiently for keeping records, filling out log sheets, email. Knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possess and can demonstrate a high level of competency in troubleshooting and correcting Mechanical/Electrical issues related to work group.
  • Proficient understanding of instrumentation and installation
  • Basic understanding programming of VFD's.
  • Basic ability to troubleshoot PLC's. _
  • Be capable of reading schematics, wiring panels, and fabricate new and replacement equipment.
  • Perform installation and maintenance work as part of a team of skilled trade workers
  • Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and meggers to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Proficient knowledge to troubleshoot and program PLC's with no supervision.
  • Panel design including breaker size, wire size, load rating, conduit fill.
  • Proficient ability to troubleshoot PLC's.
  • Competent with programming of VFD's and installation.
  • Lead special projects and contractors
  • Knowledge of all plant equipment and able to fill in for Lead

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); two years experience in maintenance field; one year experience an Industrial Electrician or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals, work orders, and other instructional materials. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate with other employees of the organization. Must read, write, and communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Proficient in math to the level of algebraic equations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schematic, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables, troubleshoot, and resolve in a logical manner.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must have good electrical and troubleshooting skills. Must have knowledge of maintenance and mechanical terminology.
