Cook- Rotational

Overview:

Prepare breakfast, soups, meats, vegetables, fried/grilled items, desserts, breads, and other orders in a restaurant setting, working a rotational shift in a remote location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Estimate food requirements and orders food from supplier or procures food from storage.
  • Prices items on menu.
  • Take orders from tickets.
  • Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills, roaster, and steam kettles.
  • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Complete daily reconciliation of cash drawer when manager is not present.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide temporary back-up to restaurants manager on occasion.

Education and/or Experience:
  • 1 year certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • 2 years experience within a kitchen setting with volume production (required).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to obtain Food Workers Card .
  • Ability to work in a remote location on a 3-week rotational schedule.
  • Well-groomed and willing to follow dress requirements.
  • Ability to learn basic task and follow instructions.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to create, updates, and manage menus.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment, and have a strong attention for detail.
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.

The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily indoors in a restaurant, heated/freezer environment. Some exposure to weather conditions while working outside of the restaurant when performing other tasks on the facility.
