Position Summary:

The Career Development and Engagement Coordinator reports under the Workforce Development and Innovation Dept to the Program Manager of Employer Engagement and Career Services.

The Career Development & Engagement Coordinator serves as the student-facing position within the Employer Engagement and Career Services department (EECS). This position will provide student-focused career readiness assistance (resumes, interview support, job searching techniques, etc.) as needed and work across the College with Program Advisors, Student Affairs, Academic Success Counselors, Faculty, Academic Deans, Career Counselors, etc.

A key component of this role is forwarding the momentum of work-based learning collegewide through quality programs and workshops, outreach and tabling, and building strong partnerships. A key focus will be to build partnerships within the college to broaden the reach of EECS and the services and resources available to learners. This is a creative role that encourages the development and implementation of new and innovative ideas, recognizing that not all programs and initiatives are pre-established.

This position will support the Employer Engagement and Career Services (EECS) department by managing various work-based learning partnerships and programs across the college. This role involves marketing career opportunities to students through classroom presentations, campus events, and community outreach. The ideal candidate will have experience in both direct and indirect marketing, as well as strong skills in social media marketing, particularly on platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. Responsibilities include planning and managing logistics for EECS-related events, working independently with minimal supervision, tracking data and employment outcomes in various capacities and systems, and staying informed about various career services programs and industry trends. Additionally, the coordinator will promote awareness of MyCareerLink, Big Interview, and other career readiness resources to students and departments. The coordinator will also act as a subject matter expert for MyCareerLink and Big Interview, conducting demos, marketing to students and faculty, and increasing program engagement. Furthermore, they will develop and present career opportunities and resources to large groups and individual students, both in-person and virtually

This role will also support the department by attending internal and external events, conducting demos of career programs, classroom presentations, and event planning. This individual must be self-directed and passionate about closing the gap between college and career. This role requires comfortability with public speaking, confidence within knowledge of career resource topics, and the desire to do whatever it takes to ensure our students are career-ready!

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.

This position will be assigned to a primary office location at our district office, but travel to campuses and community locations will be required frequently to meet student and department needs. With supervisor permission, this position can work a hybrid schedule as long as core department objectives continue to be met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides career readiness support to students which may include developing and delivering workshops and training on resumes, interviews, Linkedin profiles, etc.
  • Conducts classroom presentations and college-wide presentations on career readiness topics
  • Experience with social media marketing principles and campaigns, including LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram
  • Responsible for assisting with the management of the CSM system designed to track valuable employer and community data and gainful employment data
  • Coordinates communications between administration, faculty, staff, and students regarding Employer Engagement and Career Services partnerships, programs, and work-based learning opportunities
  • Strategically identifying and attending relevant networking events to enhance the visibility and reputation of WDI and Employer Engagement & Career Services
  • Act as a subject matter expert of MyCareerLink and Big Interview, including doing demos, marketing to students and faculty, and increasing engagement on these programs
  • Develops and presents career opportunities and resources both in person and virtual to large groups of students and in 1:1 environments
  • Flourish in a results-driven environment by leveraging metrics and analytical reporting to optimize performance and achieve organizational objectives
  • Reports, tracks, and monitors program data and tracks outcomes connected to department goals and KPIs
  • Responds to requests for information for faculty, staff, students, businesses, agencies, local schools, and the community. Provides support for staff on processes and procedures
  • Consistently surpass predefined targets while exhibiting a relentless commitment to surpassing personal bests and setting new benchmarks for excellence
  • Work with the Employer Engagement and Career Services team to connect students with work-based learning opportunities and apprenticeships and maintain strong talent pipelines to high-skill/high-tech jobs for employer partners
  • Work collaboratively with the Employer Engagement Team and grant staff to identify and secure job opportunities for program participants
  • Work cross-functionally across the college collaborating with multiple departments to strategically forward the momentum of work-based learning in innovative ways and providing career readiness services to all learner

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and
  • Two years of experience in related area (Career Services, Advising, Education, Social Work, Recruiting, or Talent Acquisition)
or
  • An equivalent combination of certification, education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
  • Experience working within an education setting providing student focused Career Service
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruiting experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of creating resumes, interview preparation workshops, etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with diverse adult learners
  • Strong Communication including public speaking, training, and conducting workshops in career readiness related fields
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge in creating resumes, cover letters, interview prep, and other career resource topics
  • Experience in Career Services, Recruitment, marketing, education or closely related field
  • Marketing, public relations, Strong Public speaking and communication
  • Must be able to work independently with limited direction and take initiative to achieve the goals of the department
  • Flexible and adaptable to an environment with multiple priorities and quickly moving targets
  • Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
  • Applicable computer programs and equipment
  • Record keeping and data management principles
  • Customer service and public relations principles
  • Reading, comprehending, and reviewing student records and career documents
  • Critical thinking, decision-making and solving complex problems that cross multiple areas
  • Competencies in multiculturalism, diversity and inclusivity: knowledge of diverse community college student populations and ability to address diversity in effective instructional practice, student learning, and in providing direct services t
