TBR-The College System of Tennessee serves as the governing board for community colleges and technical colleges across the state. The Office of Policy and Strategy works at the front lines of TBR's efforts to develop insights about student success through data and research.

The Coordinator for Strategic Research Initiatives will manage special research projects within the Office of Policy and Strategy. As part of a three-year, grant-funded project, the Coordinator will collaborate with campus partners and research staff to design and test large-scale student success interventions at TBR colleges.

As part of the Policy and Strategy team, the Coordinator for Strategic Research Initiatives will manage special research projects, guide intervention implementation with campus teams, and contribute to research about the effectiveness of student success initiatives. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to build policy research skills, engage with community college leaders, and interact with external research partners.

This is a grant-funded position and the position is contingent upon continuation of work and funding.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate the design, implementation, and evaluation of student success initiatives. This includes assisting with project convenings, advising campus teams on project progress, and interacting with external partners on project design and implementation.

Engage in project planning and collaboration with the project team. This includes developing and tracking research plans to ensure that tasks are completed in accordance with project timelines.

Analyze the impact of special research initiatives and communicate research findings to campus partners and external stakeholders. This includes assisting with data analysis, preparing and delivering presentations about research findings, and writing policy briefs about project outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work simultaneously with short and long-term priorities. Demonstrated ability to work with a research team and turn data into actionable insights. Experience analyzing data using tools like Excel, Stata, R, or related tools in either a professional or academic setting; and a willingness to develop data skills with additional training. Demonstrated ability to analyze and present information in a concise and informative manner. Demonstrated ability to be a professional, courteous, trustworthy team player.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree. Three years of professional work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Coursework in quantitative research methods, data analysis, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in higher education, public policy, or a related field. Experience analyzing higher education data. Demonstrated experience with project management. Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis software. Related professional work experience beyond that obtained in a graduate learning environment.
