Job Summary/Basic Function:
To perform professional Testing Center duties; establish and maintain client records, gather client data; provide health and community program resource information to clients; perform related work.

Level Scope:
Applies skills and job knowledge in area of specialization; may adapt procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet needs of area of specialization; may work on non-routine tasks; resolves issues/makes working decisions within area of specialization or responsibility with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Clinical Assistant:
Welcomes and interviews clients to obtain and document detailed personal data including health and demographic information; compares data with established standards and documents in record; explains services and programs; determines client eligibility; uses information to establish need and adapt services for clients.
Assists Testing Center Program Manager with setup, specimen collection for communicable diseases; maintains Testing Center areas through enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols techniques; maintains inventory of Testing Center supplies; obtains lab samples (self-collection, anterior nasal swab, oral swab) within scope of training and ability, prepares clients for tests or exams.
Describes program requirements, client rights, and obligations during the intake process; informs clients of other Public Health resources; offers and reviews Testing Center literature regarding services; explains use of program benefits; provides Public Health information to groups and individuals using professionally prepared materials.
Establishes and maintains client records; assists clients with schedules Testing Center appointments; compiles data for program reports; maintains inventory of office supplies; types or prints labels and forms; answers telephone and performs receptionist duties; may collect and receipt fees, and account for vouchers to pay for services; uses cloud-based electronic databases to collect, store, and retrieve client data.

35% of the time:

Answer general questions and direct patients to proper Public Health services.
Compile and assess data, summarize and identify key elements as needed.
Cross train and support peer programs and initiatives managed by the Public Health office, including but not limited to contact tracing and case management.
May assist with screening patients for the vaccination clinic and administer immunizations (within scope and training).

5% of the time:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Some positions that include laboratory testing duties require a High School diploma or GED certificate.
• Ability to convey information effectively
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems

Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of: health and nutritional needs of adults and children.

Experience: interviewing and eliciting personal information; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; recording information accurately and legibly.

Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical setting experience preferred.
Administrative experience preferred.
Electronic medical records or medical database experience a plus.
