Position Overview

Novelis Oswego has exciting opportunities for an Electrical Technician on the Crane Crew! Electrical Technicians will work closely with the maintenance and engineering staff to support the maintenance needs of a manufacturing unit.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

A qualified candidate will be able to:

  • Provide technical expertise and input to other personnel and equipment suppliers regarding specifications, design, construction, and installation of new or replacement equipment.
  • Work with electrical and automation engineers in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for controls and associated equipment.
  • Expand continually, knowledge of technical and maintenance principles and practices as related to area equipment and operations.
  • Serving as a resource to the Manufacturing Unit Staff Team and Operating Teams by maintaining the equipment

Qualifications

  • 2 Year Electrical Degree or 5+ years' industrial manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experiences may include:
    • Power Distribution
    • Industrial motor control (A/C & D/C Controls)
    • Process control and instrumentation
    • Combustion control systems Computers skills / computer operated control systems
    • PLCs/Ladder logic
    • Electrical systems troubleshooting

Award Criteria:

Bids within Maintenance posted Maintenance PG 6-9 will be awarded to candidates by following the following process:
  • Pay Grade 7-9 Process
  • Maintenance Seniority (Accrued prior to 10/1/1997- if applicable)
  • Fully Qualified (PG 7-9 Mechanic/Electrician)
  • Department Seniority (Only applies for bids within Engineering Maintenance)
  • Plant Seniority
  • Alphabetical Order (last name)

  • Once PG 7-9 list is exhausted proceed to Entry Level candidates (PG6 Mechanic or Electrician, Entry level Minimum Requirement Qualifications)
  • Pay Grade 6 Process
  • Department Seniority
  • Plant Seniority
  • Alphabetical Order (last name)


  • Additional Qualifications:
  • 2-year Electrical Technician Degree OR
  • Completion of CCC Maintenance Technician program or equivalent approved program OR
  • Equivalent acceptable qualifications may include:
  • Military duties may include Electricians Mate with applicable experience (at least 4 years)
  • IBEW Apprentice (at least 4 years)
  • Industrial Electrical Experience (at least 3-5 years)
