We are looking for a Cybersecurity Intern to join our organization.

Location: Arlington, VA

General Description
The qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting G&C's MSG cybersecurity activities. In support of marine cyber requirements, the candidate will assist in identifying and implementing security controls, performing risk assessments, and developing artifacts to obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) as part of the Risk Management Framework (RMF). Candidate will also perform duties in support of internal cybersecurity initiatives, such as, Independent Research and Development (IR&D), and operating cybersecurity testing environment.

General Duties
Our intern program involves having the student obtain a broad understanding of all phases of RMF and cybersecurity in general. The goal is for the intern to gain:

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and techniques using defense in depth concepts with a focus on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
  • Experience using hands-on cybersecurity tools and applications.
  • Experience performing security assessments and reviews of computer networks to identify vulnerabilities and develop remediation plans.
  • Knowledge of DoD security requirements, including DISA STIGs, SRGs, and IA tools
  • Knowledge of NIST publications, such as, SP 800-37, 800-53, and 800-171
  • Knowledge of cyber best practices and frameworks, such as CSF and RMF
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity plans, such as, Vulnerability Management Plan, Incident Response Plan, etc.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in a four year or graduate engineering or cybersecurity degree program
  • Preferred PGPA of 3.0 or higher
Security Requirements
Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
