Facebook seeks a forward-thinking, experienced manager with great leadership skills and technical flair, to join our Data Center Operations team. The person should enjoy working in a fast-paced, technical environment, where adaptability and flexibility is key to their success. Having depth and breadth of knowledge of managing people and delivering to business needs is a core competency of this individual.The Capacity Team is responsible for how we plan, add, change and remove computing capacity to and from our data center fleet. This person will lead this team and is expected to have strong planning and project management experience as this team will manage and execute multiple, complex infrastructure projects within the data center in parallel, including capacity planning, installations, retrofits, hardware retirement, data eradication and service migrations. This person should also have strong people management, leadership and development experience.

Data Center Capacity Manager Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for establishing and managing a Data Center Capacity Team responsible for the IT capacity life cycle
  • Responsible for managing and delivery of capacity from the data center site and for ensuring operational delivery through partnership with both remote and local peer organizations to support ongoing business growth
  • Track issues, analyze data looking for trends and reporting out globally
  • Collaborating globally to develop and implement process improvements in data center operations
  • Build, grow, mentor and lead a team of engineers
  • Create and drive a culture of safety, ownership, innovation, collaboration and accountability
  • Be forward thinking by understanding data center growth, identifying scaling issues before they occur and contributing to solutions
  • Support the team in the generation of specifications, and ideas for process and software automation improvements that facilitate the deployment and retirement of server hardware at scale


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in a technical field or commensurate experience
  • Experience operating in large technical environments
  • Proven time, resource and project management experience
  • Substantial experience of managing cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Substantial experience in managing technical teams and leading engineers and technicians
  • Communication skills and experience
