Role:

As an MS SQL Database Developer at Nextech, you play a pivotal role in the success of our organization. You will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical ERP system. Your collaboration with our software development and IT teams is instrumental in guaranteeing that our database infrastructure performs optimally, remains secure, and scales effectively to meet our evolving needs.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, including data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application development and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with developers to design, develop, test, debug, and document applications within a large-scale ERP system.
  • Analyze organizational needs and create effective database systems according to specifications.
  • Collect and analyze data, design algorithms, create flowcharts, and implement code to support logic developed through algorithms and flowcharts.
  • Conduct database testing and performance testing to ensure proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot potential issues, create and submit test reports, and recommend database improvements.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation and operational manuals.
  • Work closely with management to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes.
  • Integrate database modules with the front-end development team.
  • Provide hands-on development, support, maintenance, and enhancements as required.
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions for expanding existing system functionality and participating in planned technology enhancements.
  • Manage database storage, backup, recovery, and security/integrity.
  • Provide information, generate reports, and alerts from the database as needed.
  • Act as an intermediary between vendors and management to drive projects to completion.
  • Troubleshoot and solve product defects.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicant must have knowledge of application design including but not limited to:
  • Proven experience as an MS SQL Database Developer or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio).
  • Strong knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., NoSQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
  • .NET Application programming experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Quick learner with high motivation and strong attention to detail.
  • Familiar with GIT Source Control

Education/ Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in database development.
  • Microsoft SQL Server certification(s) is a plus, demonstrating your expertise.
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodologies.
  • Previous experience in the HVAC Industry or a related service business is preferred.

Physical requirements:
  • Continuously able to work in office environment
  • Continuously able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, telephone, and computer printer
  • Continuously able to sit at a computer for up to 8 hours
  • Able to alternate between sitting and standing, as needed throughout the day
  • Occasionally able to lift up to 15
  • Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking
  • Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching
  • Rarely requires climbing
  • Ability to travel on occasion
