Description

Senior Design Engineer – Electrical

SAIC is seeking a senior design engineer to fill a design subject matter expert role in the Design and Development (D&D) organization of our Engineering Innovation Factory (EIF). The successful candidate shall have a passion for solving problems using both proven and trusted methods as well as new and innovative methods. We are seeking someone with skill and experience in a variety of engineering tools such as Altium for PCB capture and a harness and cable design tool such as SolidWorks Electrical or Creo Schematics.

• Develops designs for electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment.
• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
• Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
• Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
• Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
• Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. 

This position is remote and can be worked anywhere within the US.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

•    Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or Physics with nine (5) years experience, or Masters in Electrical Engineering or Physics with three (3) years experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
•    Proven ability to work with ECAD tools such as Altium and Creo Schematics
•    Proven ability to simulate electrical systems in Low Voltage, Power, Controls, or RF domains
•    Proficiency in programming in at least one programming language (object oriented preferred)
•    Experience with Agile development in hardware systems

Desired Qualifications:

•   Ability to work in mechanical design tools (SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, etc…)

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
