The Development Technician will provide general support to the members of the Technology and Innovation group. This includes hands-on execution of development projects (laboratory and production work), the development of characterization protocols using instrumentation (e.g. conductivity measurements of targets), documenting processes and procedures for use in the transfer of development work to Production Departments (SOP's, BOMS, Routes, mechanical drawings), and maintenance of the development laboratory.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop processes and procedures for the production of new products, including chemicals (powders and pieces) and consolidated forms (pellets, targets, and other forms).
  • Document all processes, procedures, and product specifications, including the development and entry of BOM's and Routes, writing laboratory records, and using appropriate software to produce drawings to support customer targets, backing plates, designs, etc.
  • Transfer development products over to the appropriate Production Department(s) with appropriate documentation (e.g. SOP's) and training of personnel.
  • Collect required material samples and submit to the Analytical Laboratory for analysis. Collate laboratory data, summarize, and present to members of the Technology and Development group with preliminary interpretation.
  • Work with Production Scheduling to plan work requiring Production equipment to execute a run (e.g. furnace runs, hot press runs, machining).


REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires education generally equivalent to an Associate's degree in science (Chemistry, Engineering, etc.) from a two year college or technical school or 3 years related experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as chemical equations and formulas, proportions, and percentages.
  • Requires the ability to operate various departmental equipment to include a vertical furnace, tube furnaces, PID controllers, vacuum oven, scales, pH meter, gas and cylinder regulators, and various mixers and lab tools.

  • Must be able to work 1st shift.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
