*Job Summary:*

* Cloud implementation and architecture, including application, security and network (AWS, EKS/Kubernetes, Kafka)

* CI/CD - pipeline automation (GitLab), containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)

* Infrastructure As Code (Terraform)



*Education/Experience Required:* 2+ years experience software development and/or software operations



*Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities*: As a DevOps Engineer, this role is key to ensuring we build and maintain modern cloud, continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) environments. This role collaborates heavily with software development teams to build, maintain and modernize the cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline. This person must have everyday learning as a core competency, including keeping pace with the leading edge of the industry.



* Experience with managing, configuring and troubleshooting Kubernetes, Kafka, EKS, GitLab

* Experience with cloud implementation and infrastructure as code

* Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated infrastructure, deployment, testing, security scans and more

* Fluency with development (e.g. java and javascript) and operations (servers, unix/linux) environments to understand how to implement and utilize tools, to understand partners, and to make sound decisions

* Experience with node.js, log aggregators, K8s, containerized deployments, agile, Git

* Leadership abilities to influence technical teams and leadership to embrace DevOps practices

* Able to sort through ambiguity

* Can translate abstract technical concepts to people at all levels and varying technical abilities

* Architects and designs environments, infrastructure as code, solves complex problems

* Is equally comfortable coding, guiding others, making technology design and platform decisions, explaining technical concepts and decisions, talking with the business about devOps

* Can work in a casual, fun yet fast-moving environment



*EKS and AWS EC2*

* Manage platform, e.g. automation, troubleshooting, integration with CI/CD, cost optimization, etc.



*Network*

* Design new/refactor existing AWS virtual network to be more highly available, handle volume and take advantage of ever-changing offerings



*Security*

* Refactor and own existing AWS authorization scheme

* Be aware of and take steps to thwart OS and container attack vectors (including against the Container Orchestrator)

* Design new/refactor existing AWS virtual network to reduce risk of network attack vectors

* Install and own secrets vault



*General*

* Manage the above as IAC (Infrastructure as Code). (Terraform experience a big plus)

* Implement and own monitoring for health, capacity, intrusions, performance, cost optimization across all of the above



*Roles & Responsibilities:*

* Contribute to the vision for DevOps environment.

* Build out and maintain the cloud/network environment

* Champion DevOps within the organization, including software, operations and infrastructure. Teach teams the benefits and how to use the tools.

* Keep current with new tools and methods.

* Interact with and influence all members of product teams including product owner, engineering manager, engineers, QA, UX, designers, management.

* Show teams what is possible with DevOps, then help them to get there. Contribute to discussion on automation standards (e.g. What automated test coverage should we set as standard?)

* Educate and encourage the rest of the team to use automation tools.

* Be actively engaged with all development teams to ensure automation tools and approach are removing barriers for teams to get finished code implemented more frequently with less effort and higher quality.
