Basic Function

This position is responsible for the bottom line profitability of the methanol, acetyls and EOD businesses (collectively A&E), on a global basis. The primary objective of the role is to lead the development and execution of the A&E business strategy, maximizing profitability. While the business director leads the entire business, this must be accomplished through Business Teams that are composed of many other functions that have "dotted line" reporting to the director. Key functions include but are not limited to manufacturing, sales, R&D, supply chain and finance.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Through collaboration with the Business Team, provides a clear strategic road map for marketing, sales and manufacturing (asset strategy) amongst other business functions. Ensuring alignment and cooperation amongst all business functions is key.
    • Uses key metrics to understand gaps between strategy and current results and works with the Business Team to aggressively close those gaps.
    • Coordinates with corporate management on potential new business opportunities that are identified through Business Team SBA's or broader SP&T efforts. Directs the efforts of marketing managers in customer portfolio management, contract development and analysis, product pricing strategies and commercial and product development.
  • Financial Performance: Accounts for profit/ loss of the A&E business segments. Drives financial performance and continuous value and cost improvements through business and sales management.
    • Oversees the delivery of execution plans - cost control, capital plan, asset management, pricing initiatives, and working capital targets. Reviews, approves and recommends to corporate management requests for capital investment needed to grow the business, improve reliability and increase the profitability of the assets employed.
    • Creates value by understanding markets and competition and being creative in developing opportunities for value creation. Interacts at very senior levels with key customers.
  • Coaches and develops direct reports as well as provides informal mentoring across the entire Business Team

Min. Qualifications

Education
  • College Degree required
  • Both Technical and Business degrees preferred

Work Experience
  • Sales or marketing plus supervisory experience required
  • Manufacturing and/ or financial experience preferred
