The Director, Marketing is a key global leader in the Spine organization and is responsible for directing the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans, programs, and budgets to meet company sales profit objectives and optimize market opportunities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the formulation of marketing strategies and tactical execution including pricing, selection or market segments for special emphasis, promotional and advertising support of sales, and specifying the necessary product characteristics.
  • Directs regular review of markets and products to identify promising opportunities for creating separate product businesses and specialized professional areas.
  • Personnel management of the product managers.
  • Provides direction, mentors and evaluates; gives constructive feedback to increase effectiveness, efficiency, and continuity across functional areas to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Participates in conventions and professional exhibitions to maintain company image and remain aware of product requirements and new market opportunities.
  • Prepares long range, annual, quarterly, and monthly forecasts for each product line.
  • Analyzes forecasts variances and recommends corrective actions to minimize future back orders or potential obsolescence.
  • Reviews forecast for product requirements and originates plans and objectives to continually be competitive with or ahead of market needs.
  • Develops and maintains technical product knowledge and expertise and contacts with key surgeons and customers within the market by attending medical/scientific meetings, conducting presentations, in field relationship building with key business and physician stakeholders, and seminars while gathering competitive information.
  • Develops and manages assigned budgets for administration and marketing activities of the products that are assigned to this responsibility.
  • Analyzes budget variances and recommends corrective actions.
  • Conducts market research activities to analyze and identify market needs and issues.
  • Collaborates across all business units in order to create strategic vision that align to product initiatives outside of the Spine business unit.
  • Coordinates and directs advertising and promotional programs and evaluates overall effectiveness.

  • Microsoft Office Suite; general knowledge of medical device business including the science, products (Zimmer and competitors), research and commercialization process, manufacturing, marketing, and sales.
  • Knowledge of medical device market and experience in spine is a major plus.
  • Knowledge of products within assigned group, surgical process, selling process, regulatory process, development process, and marketing strategies.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in marketing, sales, engineering or equivalent discipline is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of product management experience, sales experience, product development experience or equivalent experience in the medical device or healthcare industries is required.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 40%

Compensation Range: $171,600 - $232,200
