*This position can be based in El Paso, TX, Southaven, MS, New York, NY or Marlborough, MA and temporarily eligible for Work from Home. When our offices reopen, you will be required to work from the office Monday-Friday.

What you will be doing:

The Director, MDM will work with our business, operations, up-and-coming governance and technology teams to build out an enterprise-wide MDM practice, related systems, and tactical and strategic solutions. Will collaborate with business and technology in building out current and future MDM states, business process, system interfaces, governance and technology platforms needed to enable a single source of truth for Product and Customer Data, drive a less sophisticated data environment and be positioned to scale for future business growth. This function will investigate current state analysis including all aspects of Product and Customer data integration across the ecosystem of business processes. The candidate will use current state analysis to contribute to future state requirements, process design, standard methodology implementation, technology analysis and selections.

The Director will lead and run all organization-wide data & supporting analytics governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the data integrity, quality and governance of enterprise data through the data life cycle for all Products and Customers (B2B and DTC). The position will focus on establishing and ensuring alignment to an enterprise data governance framework and for operationalizing Master Data Management, Metadata Management, and other data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional area levels, to achieve the required level of understanding, consistency, quality, and provide relevant metrics to meet overall business needs.


  • Develop strategic roadmap and operational framework for Enterprise Master Data Management and Master Data Governance, in partnership with key partners

  • Design, lead all aspects of and standardize data structures, attributes, taxonomies and needed governance for Product and Customer masters across multiple brands, systems, operating units, in agreement with our long-term ERP and WMS Strategies

  • Work closely with leadership and implementation teams to support Data Models in alignment with WMS and ERP Implementations

  • Partner with IT, on the design and oversight of APIs and other data sharing capabilities in collaboration with Transformation Strategy, and short/ long term business needs

  • Develop, test, and deploy Master Data Governance model for Product and Customer Masters in partnership with division and brand leaders

  • Develop and operate an effective Governance Model with the right balance of Structure, Standardization, Speed, Agility, and Business / Brand requirements to build a foundation for developing mature MDM/MDG teams and long-term organizational capabilities

  • Partner with IT to integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools (automation projects, process improvements, etc.) into existing systems to enable single source of truth for Product and Customer data

  • Educate business and operations teams on data stewardship and MDM best practices by providing needed exception reports, analytics, and continuous process improvement recommendations

  • Document and redesign business process flows

  • Provide oversight into data, data systems, and process improvements required to supervise and improve data quality

  • Define key performance indicators for quality and compliance metrics to ensure data related policies and standards are followed and being embraced, and provide a data governance scorecard

  • Acts as a SME to explain all facets of MDM data exchange and processing, business user involvement, and overall architecture acting as a liaison between Business Partners and Technology teams

  • Designing and architecting integrations between MDM systems and other systems using standard connectors, publish-subscribe, and other mechanisms

  • Implement master data management standards, enforce data governance procedures, and ensure data integrity across multiple platforms

  • Prioritize and lead a single data governance team, currently spread out across disparate functions

  • Lead by example, while facilitating a Power of One culture

  • Ensure all team members receive accurate training and become multi-functional specialists to provide support where and when needed

  • Remove boundaries by encouraging creative thinking and problem solving to build a culture of support, focused on results and business growth

  • Drive accountability by promoting a robust Data & Analytics Governance and measurement framework


Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Hands on approach, while managing through influence

  • Proven track record and experience of successfully standing up MDM and/or CRM solutions, or any similar Product or Customer master platforms

  • Demonstrable understanding of Product and Customer data (B2B and DTC), and the needed data structures and taxonomies to support successful end-to-end lifecycle

  • Proven ability to inspire change across a large organization

  • Strong execution and implementation ability in a complicated business environment


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or appropriate combination of education and experience in crucial duties and responsibilities

  • 5+ years of experience in master data management technology

  • 5+ years of business analysis or business process re-engineering

  • 5+ years designing, implementing, supporting, and analyzing enterprise scale database solutions that perform extract/transform/load (ETL) operations with internal and external data sources

  • Solid understanding of master data management in consumer goods industry

  • Demonstrated experience in defining standard methodologies in areas such as Product and Customer data management, product attribution and taxonomies, metadata management, data quality management, root cause analysis and process design

  • Expertise in 1-2 MDM tools and hands on experience

  • Prior project management experience

  • Strong intuition for business and analytical skills

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of data, databases, data tools (e.g. SQL) and data processing experience
