Job Description

The Director of Accounts Receivable is responsible for enhancing and maintaining a properly functioning revenue cycle process through a cross-department organizational structure. Critical responsibilities include achievement of annual and monthly goals for significant statistical indicators of revenue cycle performance and for the organization's overall financial performance.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Working collaboratively with the Healthcare Controller, manage and direct the revenue cycle for the entire healthcare enterprise, specifically providing direct feedback & support for the following positions: Business Office Manager, Regional Accounts Receivable Manager and Universal Accounts Receivable Biller
  2. Supervise all aspects of billing and collecting for accounts receivable
  3. Develop, maintain, direct and oversee a comprehensive education program for all healthcare billing staff.
  4. Assist external auditors at year-end with preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  1. Bachelor's degree (accounting or healthcare administration degree required).
  2. At least five (5) years of experience in health care billing and collections management for Skilled Nursing operations. Home Care experience also preferred but not required.
  3. At least three (3) years in a management capacity.
  4. Ability to maintain positive attitude and approach towards assignments.
  5. Leadership abilities and strategic thinking in order to plan, organize and implement department goals, foundation policies and other process.
  6. Team-building skills to encourage collaboration and communication amongst accounting team members and key internal partners.
  7. Sound and accurate judgment with an ability to support and explain reasoning for decisions. Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; and ensures timely decisions are made.
  8. Strong professional ethics which include approaching others in a tactful manner; reacting well under pressure; treating others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepting responsibility for own actions; following through on commitments.
  9. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of employee and vendor issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to travel up to 30% of time is required.
