Description Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Senior Compliance Administrator through the General Counsel, this position is primarily responsible for maintaining all NCAA related initiatives including but not limited to compliance rules education, monitoring, coordination of required NCAA reports, and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. **Note** Must be able to work some evenings and/or weekends.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop, implement, and manage institutional monitoring systems, policies and procedures for compliance of NCAA, institution, and conference bylaws.
  • Instructs and provides interpretations to the University, Athletics Department, Alumni, and other Representatives of Athletics Interests on NCAA Rules and Regulations.
  • Responsible for monitoring procedures for athletic recruiting, institutional sports camps/clinics, awards, and benefits, playing and practice sessions and championships and postseason for 15 intercollegiate sports and all prospective student-athletes.
  • Conduct a comprehensive rules education program
  • Examine and assist with financial aid and eligibility certification procedures by institutional offices.
  • Assists the Sr. Associate Athletic Director/Senior Compliance Administrator with investigating and monitoring, and reporting NCAA and MIAA violations.
  • Assists in researching answers to interpretive questions and scenarios for coaches, alumni, faculty, and staff members.
  • Monitors recruiting activities (e.g., travel reports, recruiting correspondence, telephone calls, recruiting visits, official/unofficial visits, tryouts, contacts/evaluations, and sports camps); tracking playing and practice season activities; participation in outside competition, employment opportunities, and promotional activities).
  • Assist in the coordination of Conference and NCAA waivers and hardship requests with Director of Athletics, Compliance Office, FAR, and other necessary individuals/departments.
  • Oversight of designated sport (Head Coaches' Direct Report) under the direction of the Athletic Director or designee.
  • Maintains and conducts a comprehensive and continuing rules education program for coaches, staff, student-athletes, prospects and boosters.
  • Develops and disseminates educational materials to student-athletes and coaches.
  • Maintains and completes all required NCAA forms and reports, compliance policies, and procedures manual and all compliance forms to ensure new legislation and policies are properly implemented.
  • Maintains the NCAA Compliance Assistant, ARMS, Opendorse and/or corresponding database.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures and plans and recommend and implement policy enhancements to promote continuous quality improvements.
  • Prepare administrative documents as necessary to fulfill institutional, Conference and NCAA requirements.
  • Collaborative approach to leadership, along with awareness of best approaches to NCAA compliance and enrollment services.
  • Serve as a liaison to Academic Affairs: Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Enrollment and Student Success, and the Center for Counseling and Well-Being (CCWB).
  • Attend all Conference and NCAA meetings/conventions as requested by the Senior Compliance Administrator including, but not limited to the NCAA Regional Rules Seminar, Regional Compliance Seminar, and/or the NAAC Convention.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and works as a cooperative/supportive team member in the UCO Athletics Department and Office of General Counsel
Qualifications Qualifications/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts or a combination of education and experience.
  • Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
  • Master's degree in a related field or a J.D. is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Possess a good working knowledge of NCAA Division II eligibility regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, and a working knowledge of LSDBi Compliance Assistant, and ARMS or other athletic compliance software.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
