FECON, LLC is a vegetation management equipment manufacturer located in Lebanon, Ohio near Kings Island Amusement Park. Job Summary:

The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the engineering and R & D teams as well as the strategy development and deployment to achieve the company's technical and product development goals. The Director of Engineering is also responsible for ensuing all products meet any applicable regulatory and safety standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages assigned personnel, determines appropriate staffing levels, and participates in the hiring process for engineers and supports Engineering Manager with all personnel needs.
  • Coaches and provides the necessary leadership to Engineering and R & D leadership and personnel. Establishes areas of accountability and performance objectives, monitors project execution, and provides ongoing feedback.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and creates development plans for team members to acquire new skills, take on additional responsibilities or close performance gaps.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Establishes resource plans for all engineering activities
    • Product Development (NPD)
    • Current Portfolio Support (Product Life Cycle)
    • Production Support (ECR/ECN, DFM/A)
  • Works with Engineering Manager to develop schedules for all development projects.
  • Develop culture of accountability, transparency and PDCA(A3) problem solving
  • Develop appropriate KPI's to track progress towards department goals
  • Reports project status, risks and opportunities to SVP & Leadership
  • Developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent.
  • Ensures all products are complaint with applicable standards and regulations. (Environmental/Safety - EPA, CE, IS0)
  • Develops and monitors budgets for all engineering/R&D projects.
  • Evaluates the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of product specifications and collaborates with product management to redefine product specifications.
  • Participates in gate meetings to report out on project status, design or specification issues, etc.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships and utilizes customer product related feedback to analyze, design and enhance FECON products; implements product modifications and assists in process changes.
  • Acts as the company representative to facilitate customer tours and answers process or product related questions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required; mechanical engineering preferred. An MBA and/or PE license is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse the production facility.
  • Must be able and willing to travel up to 15% of time visiting customers, dealers and working job sites.
