Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. General Function:

Manages people, data, technology, and processes to continuously improve the service level outcomes and performance of IT. Oversees the daily operations, provides leadership, and guidance in the best practices of enterprise applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and eight years of experience in an IT related field. Additional related post-secondary education can be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis or the appropriate technical certifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and six years of experience in an IT related field. At least two years of experience with Ellucian Banner and SQL management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance, oversight, unit budget management, and policy formation for Enterprise Applications unit; Assess and manage a portion of the IT budget as it pertains to enterprise applications; Recruit, train, and support other members of the Enterprise Applications team; Collaborate with IT leadership on project management, change management, and long-term vision for the department; Ensure SACSCOC, TBR, MSCC, THEC, and other applicable agencies policy compliance.
  • Manages, configures, and supports applications including but not limited to: Ellucian Banner, Evisions suite (Argos, FormFusion, IntelleCheck, Maps), SQL and Oracle databases, Dynamic Forms (Next Gen Web Solutions), PageBuilder, and Degree Works.
  • Assesses the selection, purchasing, and implementation of new enterprise applications while adhering to proper policies and guidelines
  • Provide support and training to end users in the use of enterprise applications.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions. Determine the best course of action based on the issue and details provided by the users. Escalate unresolved issues and collaborate with IT leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Manage business data while adhering to data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices.
  • Support documentation of knowledgebase, while properly recording events, problems, and resolutions in ITSM platform.
  • Develop and provide necessary reports, KPIs, and SLAs that align with the strategic plan of Motlow.
  • Participate in college committees and taskforces as required by business demands; Participates and represents Motlow in Tennessee Board of Regents committees and taskforces as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices and the ability to effectively apply them in the higher education environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge in installation and troubleshooting of software applications, databases, and programming languages.
  • Ability to multitask and switch priorities as needed.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms when the audience requires it.
  • Knowledge of basic budgeting concepts as they pertain to technology.
