About the Position:

The Assistant Director works collaboratively on the Facilities Operations and Event Management team to monitor, evaluate, maintain and coordinate the day-to-day operations and usage of the Armstrong Fieldhouse.

The position is directly responsible for the coordination and oversight of scheduling all athletics events and outside (users) events in this facility.

The position is also responsible for assisting with events at additional athletics facilities as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate the day to day operational usage of the Armstrong Fieldhouse.
  • Directly responsible for the coordination and oversight of all scheduling of the Armstrong Fieldhouse.
  • Responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination and execution of athletics practices, community time, all special events, summer camps, graduations, concerts, high school events and photo shoots, etc.
  • Responsible for the communication with sports teams as it relates to practice or event usage in the Armstrong Fieldhouse.
  • Assist with other events and operations within the department as needed.
  • Work in coordination with the Associate AD for Facilities and Operations on generating revenue for the athletics department by renting out the spaces in the Indoor Performance Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires evening and weekend work for games and events as needed.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required.

A minimum of two years of work experience in facility and event management is required. Experience at the intercollegiate level is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think on their feet and devise appropriate solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time-management skills. A strong focus on attention to detail is essential.

Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office (e.g. Outlook and Excel).
