Position Summary

The Director of Operational Excellence will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring operational efficiency across all programs and departments to include existing operations and start-up of new programs and services. The position is responsible for ensuring the company's processes and systems are optimized to always deliver the best customer experience possible. The position will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies that optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance. The position is responsible for system capturing, creating, documenting, developing system requirements, managing change governance, and cataloging standards and best practices to increase the Company's productivity levels, specifically within operations, and at the time of program start-ups. Using analytics, this individual will continuously improve standards of operation and analyze key metrics to plan, design, implement and evaluate key projects, identifying areas for performance improvement and opportunities for cost savings across the enterprise. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing a quality strategy for the organization. The quality strategy will encompass quality assurance and quality control to include key program processes such as rebate processing, invoicing, field operations, project technical review, customer complaint management and resolution, SOC compliance, and reporting procedures. The Operational Excellence team will intervene where necessary to remediate operations through training appropriate personnel, tracking progress, communicating progress, and auditing sustainable operations practices to ensure effectiveness. This position will lead Operations Excellence Managers and the Start-up Team to support all initiatives and meet organizational and client quality and improvement goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Standards:

  • Develop and implement operational excellence strategies and initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and track operational performance across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with department heads to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership, change management, guidance, and mentorship to team members involved in operational excellence initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to stay informed of emerging technologies and methodologies that can enhance operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and updates to senior leadership on operational performance, initiatives, and outcomes.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and accountability.
  • Document, archive and maintain standards/processes/operational guidelines and practices used by business divisions and functions; validate process behavior through SOP, policy, and process flows
  • Gain a keen understanding and develop knowledge of various team's operations; advise on best practices accordingly
  • Create SOP's for successful launch of program start-ups, and implementation, incorporating "Best Practice" methods of program implementation
  • Lead cross functional teams in development of standards/processes/guidelines that are sustainable and flexible to meet client expectations and support continuous improvement
  • Work with cross functional teams to develop and document standards/processes/operational guidelines to achieve targeted operational efficiencies and productivity improvements
Quality:
  • Develop and implement a company quality strategy
  • Implement measures to track and report on increased productivity and improved standards
  • Coordinate and collaborate with program and department management teams to implement quality assurance
  • Collaborate with program operation staff to help direct efforts of program quality staff to ensure consistent approaches across Franklin Energy
  • Analyze programs to identify missing or weak operational procedures and risks
  • Develop plan for SOC compliance
  • Promote and serve as a point of contact for escalated QA concerns or issues
  • Participate in customer or client satisfaction improvement projects
  • Interface with stakeholder groups to understand issues and opportunities as it relates to our programs and contracts and coordinate best practices with other QA leads, Solution Management, Engineering and Information Management
  • Support implementation of quality practices in new program startups and transitions
  • Support documentation of quality and operations practices in program operations manuals
  • Lead analysis to identify performance improvement projects and prioritization to realize productivity savings
Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify root causes of issues and develop actionable solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Lead program or department interventions to remediate operations where process improvements are needed, goals are not being met, or client relationships are strained.
  • Oversee cross functional productivity projects, including deliverable tracking and cost savings; track and validate success, ensuring planned business outcomes are achieved and adjusting projects as necessary
  • Lead and facilitate collaborative efforts to identify and define targeted organizational processes, capabilities, application of key technologies for improved performance
  • Lead data collection, time studies, audits, and other data analysis as part of continuous process improvement efforts
  • Assess, improve and develop operational excellence through productivity projects
  • Monitors key metrics/KPIs to identify areas of savings, make data driven improvements to efficiencies and address gaps/deficiencies
  • Work with different business functions to develop and implement data gathering techniques to identify and rank opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Ensure productivity improvement projects are connected to business objectives and key results
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage direct reports and oversee staff. This includes interviewing, planning, assigning, completing performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring and directing work
  • Mentor program personnel in achieving their personal goals annually as well as their long-term development goals
Position Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Masters preferred
  • 5+ years energy efficiency industry experience (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of Quality, Operations, Lean or Statistical experience - Preferred
  • 5+ years of Change Management - preferred
  • Relevant experience managing operational excellence initiatives
  • Demonstrated accountability to quality, process improvement, and industry best practices
  • Experience working with and influencing stakeholders
  • Must show proven leadership in fast paced environment
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Must be able to handle a wide variety of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook; proficient in PowerBI or other like data visualization tool; highly developed skills in Microsoft Excel (including ability to analyze large data sets through PowerPivot)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and employees
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems
  • Knowledge of business financial concepts and ability to translate operational efficiencies into financial objectives and targets
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop strategies that help overcome departmental challenges and enhance the company's performance levels and profits

Travel Requirements

Estimated Wage Range: $100,000 - $120,000+
