Overview

Position Overview:

Oversees the safe and efficient operation of the Admissions, Park Services, Rides, Aquatics, Entertainment/Haunt, Safety and Security departments. Works closely with all departments to accomplish company goals. Supervises and reviews the work of managerial staff while performing related administrative tasks and professional duties as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4-year College or University) in Management or related field.
  • 6-10 years related experience in amusement park operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and ability to learn various systems and programs.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to lead a large team and interact with all levels of leadership as well as park guests.
  • Ability to make sound, educated decisions using independent judgment and discretion in developing, directing and supervising various programs and related activities including the handling of emergency situations by reacting calmly and quickly, determining procedures, setting priorities, maintaining standards and assisting as necessary
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to conduct employee meetings; provide detailed direction to staff, guests, and vendors; and write policies, procedures, reports and other business-related documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.  Ability to facilitate and present information to various audiences, associate to senior leadership.
  • Strong time management skills to work in face paced environment, manage multiple priorities with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to bend, kneel and squat.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises duties of subordinate managerial staff. Duties include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new associates; recommending and approving associate promotions, discipline, transfers, discharge, and recommending salary increases.
  • Oversees planning and execution of park events throughout the season.  Works with other departments to ensure common goals are understood and achieved.
  • Manages and participates in the Park Manager on Duty program.
  • Develops and maintain professional working relationships with other Divisions, counterparts, and external organizations.
  • Works collaboratively with Maintenance department to ensure all rides, attractions and operating locations are properly maintained to run safely and keep ride downtime to a minimum
  • Reviews and analyzes data provided by the park's various operational reports; uses this data to provide guidance for Park Operations management staff, and where appropriate, park-wide management staff. Provides opportunities for effective training and professional development for staff members.
  • Prepares and/ or processes Divisional budgets, submits capital expenditures, performance appraisals, meeting agendas and minutes, expense reports, purchase orders, policies and procedures, requisitions, various other letters, memos, correspondences, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the General Manager and other Directors, other park managers, associates, contractors, vendors, corporate personnel, guests, etc.
  • Receives and responds to guests comment reports and interacts with park guests in person; takes corrective action as necessary to maintain effective of Park services and products.
  • Promotes a safe and pleasant work environment for all employees and guests by ensuring compliance with all Park and Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Plans, directs, and supervises all aspects of Park Operations which includes Admissions, Ride Operations, Park Services, Aquatics, Entertainment/ Haunt, Safety and Security departments.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
