The Global Director of Technology - Distribution and Logistics is a creative and experienced professional who is responsible for leading the organization's technology strategic mission and vision in the distribution/logistics area. This role will be a critical lead in delivering strategic solutions to support our distribution and logistics teams with the latest technologies. This role will be critical in our digitization transformation!

Director Distribution Logistics will build, lead, and scale distribution and logistics technology to support the full spectrum of global Supply Chain Management. This role will manage the selection, development and delivery of global technology solutions that support the vision and strategy of the Company's strategic business plan.

Responsibilities

The Global Director Distribution/Logistics is accountable for developing the Global distribution and logistics technology strategy, establishing governance and quality standards, implementing tools and techniques, providing training and support, and ensuring compliance globally to drive business value and operational efficiencies.

  • Develops and implements an organization-wide information technology strategy that aligns with the organization's vision and its current and long-term business objectives
  • Analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact of emerging technologies
  • Manages large team which would typically consist of both experienced professionals and managers
  • Focus on strategy and operational plans with short-to mid-term focus (e.g., 1-2 years).
  • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
  • Establishes key elements of tactical and operational plans with measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the sub-function.
  • Focus is on short-to mid-term operational plans (e.g., 1-2 years). Develops new products, processes, standards or operational plans in support of the job function strategy.
  • Budget or P&L accountability for area of responsibility, manage elements of the budget.
  • Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of job area.
  • Problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
  • Problems are difficult and moderately complex. Problems typically impact multiple departments or specialties.
  • Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function, which may include external customers or vendors depending upon the job function.
  • Requires ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices and procedures.
  • Manages a large team typically comprising of other managers and/or supervisors and experienced professionals.
  • Typically has hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area, in accordance with manager review and approval.
  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department. Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
  • Directs the development and implementation of technologies to improve the performance of multiple business processes, increase profitability, and support the business strategy
  • Allocates resources (budget and people) and manages the development and delivery of training for internal and external IT users to ensure productive use of existing and new systems
  • Directs the preparation, review and consolidation of business plans and budgets for strategic IT initiatives
  • Contributes to and influences the development of standards and changes to systems/applications.
  • Leads and mentors staff while providing career coaching and development through influence
  • Manages financial resources of the Domain while ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality technology solutions for the business and its customers
  • Manages vendor relationships to maximize value to the business. Manages simple to moderately complex contracts
  • Ensures adherence to applications security procedures, change control guidelines and Sarbanes Oxley requirements

Qualifications
  • 10+ years technical experience working in an IT organization required.
  • 10+ years leadership/management experience required.
  • Bachelors degree required; masters preferred.
  • Experience with contracts and vendor negotiations.
  • Must be able to build and maintain relationships with departmental directors and staff to develop a clear understanding of business needs, strategy and direction and advise on how each of those can benefit from technology.
  • Must be able to deliver and sustain a forward-thinking roadmap of well-designed and well-supported solutions that ensures business success. Evaluate the applicability and effectiveness of current solutions and the impact on the agreed roadmaps. Ensure stakeholder engagement through effective communication, collaboration and education.
  • Must be able to develop and implement a global/regional and integrated distribution strategy to facilitate effective planning and management of all activities.
  • Must be able to develop and implement a global/regional and integrated logistics strategy to facilitate effective planning and management of all logistics activities.
