Job Description

Purpose of the Job and Expected outcome

Directs teams compromised of line management and individual project services team members to achieve successful project delivery by mentoring and guiding team to achieve their client study deliverables and applicable departmental goals. The Director, Project Management drives continuous improvement initiatives in processes and procedures used by the project management group. This position will involve extensive mentoring and professional development of staff and is a Senior Leadership Role within the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all assigning and monitoring work progress/completion across the assigned scope
  • Performance management, including appraising performance and guiding professional development,rewarding and disciplining employees as applicable
  • Assess talent within project management and drive consistent, high quality project managementservices
  • Manage assigned staff and day-to-day activities in accordance with organizational policies andapplicable regulations
  • Develop training programs to enhance organizational knowledge and performance across the scope
  • Ensure that staff understand and adhere to Good Clinical Practices
  • Provide direction to Project Services team comprised of line management (Managers, ProjectManagement) and individual contributors
  • When required to meet project milestones/deliverable, develop, maintain, and communicate scope-wide project priority ranking to each Operations area (Kit Packing, Sample Management, Laboratory,
  • Specialty Testing Partners, and Data Management)
  • Develop and encourage industry leading customer service by developing and implementing processes to ensure rapid identification of risks/issues and successful resolution with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement standard expectations and performance metrics for communication andresponsiveness to customers
  • Ensures all project and study activity is delivered on time and on specification, overseeing corrective action when applicable
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and development
  • Responsible for pricing services and defining standards behind service offerings within the projectservices scope
  • Develop and implement standards of operation within the project services scope by liaising withrelevant areas to streamline communication and action within the business
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Ops, IT, Finance, PSM, DM, Set-up, etc) to facilitate theimplementation of new systems, study management tools and/or processes, as applicable
  • Act as project management process owner for all applicable areas including but not limited torecruitment, staffing, SOPs, and process improvements
  • Play an active role in the enhancement of Project Management systems and processes to ensureglobal development and alignment
  • Responsible for budget planning, monitoring and control for employees and/or department
  • Actively participate or lead external customer meetings to promote company and support existing and future business
  • Work closely with internal departments, external vendors and the sponsor to promote departmental initiatives and/or client needs
  • Foster a unified culture and facilitate collaboration, co-operation, sharing of information and teamwork
  • Keep abreast of new technical developments and initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality of services and operational efficiency
  • Manage overall client relationship and achieve all budget, revenue, gross bookings and margin targets
  • Support the sales/ business development process for the accounts

Qualifications

Basic Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in Life Sciences or related field required
  • Strong understanding of Central Laboratory practices, including some direct experience.
  • 5 years of clinical research industry experience
  • 2 years project management experience, including line management experience
  • Authorization to work in the US for any employer, indefinitely, without sponsorship.
The Ideal Candidate would possess:
  • 10 Year of Clinical research industry experience
  • 5 Years Project Management Experience, including line management experience
  • Experience managing cross functional global teams
  • MBA
  • PMP Certification or equivalent
  • Strong Customer focus
  • Ability and willingness to make key businesses decisions in a dynamic environment
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to develop and lead cross functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker and demonstrated analytical ability
  • Demonstrated ability to improve complex operations

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
