Direct and manage the end-to-end airline revenue accounting department, ensuring accurate processing and recording of all revenue-related transactions and compliance of such transactions with internal and industry revenue accounting guidelines. Ensure accurate and timely accounting, analysis and publishing of cargo revenue and providing accurate analyses of sales, flown, and interline transactions to internal company departments (e.g. finance).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: IPE

Impact:

  • Nature and scope of influence a position has on its area of responsibility/ operation.
  • Monitor service level agreement with revenue accounting processing bureau for completeness, timeliness and accurate processing for revenue accounting documents on monthly basis.
  • Develop and implement goals, policies, and procedures related to the revenue accounting department. Survey all department functions to determine the adequacy of the system of control to achieve established objectives and make modifications where necessary. Determine work priorities for the staff.
  • Establish and maintain revenue accounting principles, practices & procedures to ensure compliance with various authorities, reviewing continuously to implement process improvements as industry and regulatory bodies require.
  • Assist in preparation of financial statement disclosures relating to revenue, including gathering and summarizing revenue recognition data, accounts receivable / payable, deferred revenue and other relevant areas.
  • Manage and direct the issuance of customer, agency & Interline partner claims and refunds. Take responsibility for compliance and adherence to all industry security standards.
  • Manage and review the audit programs for stations, ensure compliance and participate in investigations when warranted.
  • Own the revenue cycle to determine appropriate revenue recognition, development and support of pricing schemes and compliance with company and regulatory revenue recognition requirements.
  • Manage monthly and yearly revenue accounting period closing including assurance of accurate and timely results.
  • Actively participate in revenue accounting related contract negotiation and contract review with Legal and Sales teams to ensure desired revenue recognition treatment is achieved.
  • Maintain contract documentation.
  • Facilitation, motivation and development of the revenue accounting team into a closely and cohesively working unit in order to achieve optimal productivity.
  • Direct the compilation and issuance of revenue accounting statistics and reports
  • Support financial planning, analysis, and reporting efforts including the annual revenue budget and monthly revenue forecasting.
  • Lead efforts to develop policies and procedures that streamline revenue accounting operations processes.


Communication:
  • Work with external industry parties such as IATA, other airlines, agencies, airport authorities, government departments, auditors, to establish and run the revenue accounting department and to remain compliant with industry, government, and legal regulations.
  • Work with other airline departments to test and implement new revenue accounting systems. Develop proper internal controls, auditing techniques and reporting to serve the informational needs of the company.
  • Lead the communication and implementation of new revenue accounting practices across the company operations.
  • Work with the sales, marketing and commercial departments to formulate and publish policy and procedures to be used for ticketing, collection and reporting of tickets and revenue.
  • Monitor; in liaison with IT department and Bureau, various processed files for interface to financial accounting system and revenue accounting system on a periodic basis.

Innovation:
  • Establish, maintain and mentor a revenue accounting team to monitor sales, reissues, exchange, refunds, flown, and interline transactions.
  • Establish and maintain revenue accounting principles, practices & procedures to ensure compliance with various authorities.


Qualifications


EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:
  • BSc in Accounting / Business Administration with satisfactory academic performance.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Advanced Industry knowledge related to all revenue accounting principles and the associated governing bodies, systems and processes.
  • Advanced financial accounting knowledge.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have worked as Director / Head of Revenue Accounting for at least 5 years in an airline having fleet not less than 10 aircraft.

  • Excellent analytical skills are essential
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft office tools such as excel, word, power point presentation etc.


TRAVEL

This position requires ocassional travel domestically and/or internationally.
