Farm Credit of Central Florida supports rural communities and agriculture in 13 central Florida counties including, Polk, Citrus, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Sumter, Osceola, Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Brevard. Part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, the association loans funds for agricultural purposes, makes residential loans, originates leases, and sells crop insurance. Over 1,200 borrowers have chosen Farm Credit of Central Florida as their lender of choice. Farm Credit of Central Florida provides over $1 billion in originated loans and other financial services to its member-borrowers.
Project:
The intern will primarily work on an agricultural industry research project. The project will involve the compilation of existing member level data, USDA data and other sources as appropriate. Additionally, research and compilation of data on production and consumption trends across the US and internationally (primarily Mexico). Types of data to be collected include: acres of production, pricing per flat/acre/pound/carton, expenses per acre, land values, production trends, consumption trends etc. Data will be utilized to produce a report for distribution to existing membership and industry participants
Time Commitment:
10-15 hours per week for up to 16 weeks
Qualifications:
Masters, Senior or Junior level student with a background in economics, research, or data analytics.
Requirements:
Strong analytical skills
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Excel and/or Access to collect data
Attention to details
Able to effectively plan and manage one's own time
