Electrical Design Engineer

DDS Engineering and Surveying, LLP (DDSE), is an experienced and highly qualified natural gas/civil engineering, permitting and survey firm that has been performing consulting engineering and construction services in the natural gas industry for many years. We currently perform these engineering services related to natural gas transmission, distribution main design, station design (M&R, gate stations, and regulator stations) and customer services (residential and commercial) for a variety of natural gas customers throughout the Northeast. Our dynamic team is comprised of experienced natural gas engineers, civil and mechanical engineers, surveyors, gas construction personnel as well as in-house staff expertise in the areas of legal, compliance, and safety. With flexibility in office location (NY, PA, MA) our fast-growing energy division is seeking thoughtful and highly motivated individuals to be part of our team.

We are hiring an Electrical Design Engineer to design and implement complex electrical systems for natural gas utility facilities. This is a fast paced, dynamic position that will require working both independently and as a member of a team of professionals moving projects from concept through construction phases. The engineer is responsible for planning and preparing engineering and designs to meet our customers project objectives for a variety of types of projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and/or improving electrical systems for existing or new facilities, components and/or equipment.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
  • Develop electric power one line, distribution panel schedule, UPS panel schedule, lighting, I/O loop design, AC/DC circuits, emergency power configuration, communications, hazardous area analysis, grounding design, etc.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Supervising or training project team members.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
Skills and Experience
Required
  • Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2-5 years related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar field
  • Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering.
  • Significant hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Office programs, and calculation software.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, team player with strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and other staff.
  • Attention to detail with a desire for excellence
Preferred

  • Licensed as a professional engineer.
  • Natural gas facilities experience
