Description

Domtar is seeking an Environmental Engineer at their Pulp & Paper Mill in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. The Environmental Engineer reports the the Environmental Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, compiling and submitting monitoring reports; the reporting of environmental incidents and excursions; assisting with the development of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and the defining of roles, responsibilities and accountability at all levels and alldepartmentswithin Nekoosa Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records relating to Asbestos and Refrigerant
  • Compliance inspections with State and Corporate
  • Manage environmental contractor and consultants in your areas of responsibility
  • Manage mill's recycling programs, hazardous waste program, waste shipments and reporting, and land application programs
  • Review ongoing sustainability and effectiveness of the mill's ISO 14001 registered EMS System, participate in the corrective action processes for audits, incidents, risk assessments, community complaints etc. to ensure follow-up is effective, preventative and sustained. Promote a proactive risk-based approach to environmental management. Provide input in the development of environmental operating and capital budgets. Prepare costjustificationsfor new environmental projects/process changes.
  • Title V Air Permits including; Daily, Semiannual, annual compliance certifications, Coordination and reporting of all required stack testing, complete next Title V, Bi-Annual WDNR air audit lead, MACT testing, and air permitting management of change.
  • Construction Permits and maintain monthly records for permits
  • New Chemical Approvals
  • Manage reporting for:
    • TSCA report
    • SARA 311, SARA 312, SARA 313
    • Waste Oil reports
    • Air Emissions
    • Monthly landfill reports and hazardous waste reports
    • Monthly/quarterly/semi-annual/annual compliance reporting to the WDNR
    • Land application reports (Synagro)
    • FERC required Reporting
  • Malfunction Prevention and Abatement Plans
  • Fugitive Dust Plans
  • Monthly data for corporate as needed including but not limited to quarterly and annual reporting, sustainability reporting and Environmental Data for report (Syschrontec)
  • Serves as a back up to Environmental Engineer in regard to daily WWTP Operations, DMR reporting and storm water inspections. Be supportive of other environmental disciplines and mill programs (NPDES FERC, and air.)

Education and Related Experience:
  • BS in an environmental engineering field, Environmental Science, Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry with environmental electives, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of environmental experience in an industrial environment
  • Experience in Title V and Title I air permitting activitiespreferred
  • Verifiable experience in regulatory agency interface
  • Knowledge of Water programs, including WPDES (NPDES) Permits
  • Licensed Landfill Manager, WWT Operator, State of WI preferred.
  • Knowledge of air, water, solid waste, and hazardous waste programs
  • Knowledge of EMS, ISO 14001
  • Versatile in all suites of Microsoft Office including PARCView
  • Knowledge of hydro electric dam operations and FREC requirements a plus

  • Continuously look for and implement process improvements and procedures - must of comfortable and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team.
  • Results-focused, well organized and detail oriented.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
