With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent is seeking a January - June 2023 R&D Engineering Intern.

Purpose and Scope
Gain experience in a professional engineering setting. Interns will be expected to perform the duties of Design and Project Engineers to the extent possible based on their level of curriculum completion.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide variety of electrical and mechanical engineering tasks in the engineering lab including assembly and disassembly, soldering, use of adhesives, and organization of engineering lab tools/components.
  • Review and update engineering electrical and mechanical engineering documentation.
  • Hands-on assembly and testing of new/modified designs
  • Assist with technical support of technicians performing tests
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
  • Perform engineering analysis and apply problem-solving methods to support Research and Development Engineers with R&D programs
  • Create prototype designs/tooling and drawings based on engineering direction
  • Write/Review/Edit test plans and engineering reports in support of R&D programs
  • Interact with other departments in support of R&D activity
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics with minimum progress equivalent to associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative technical team atmosphere
  • Must demonstrate hands-on skill set to work in lab environment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical and mechanical engineering hands-on skills
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects or work experience
  • Familiarity with machining and manufacturing methods and processes
  • Aerospace or Military experience with hydraulic components and systems
  • Working knowledge of CREO and MathCAD
  • Working knowledge of Ansys FEA, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
