The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
The engineer will need technical ability to assist in the development of design and maintenance improvements for A4W reactor plant fluid systems and mechanical components. The engineer will assist with design studies (e.g., root cause analysis, new design development), identify life-cycle cost reductions, perform risk management studies, conduct laboratory testing, analyze data, and assist with developing integrated technical positions and recommendations for customer (NAVSEA 08 and NNL) approval. The engineer will perform liaison services (e.g., with shipyards and CVN68 Class ships) to solve problems identified during equipment manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance. The engineer will assist in developing ship modification products and provisioning documentation, and maintain technical manuals and drawings. Good verbal and technical writing skills are expected. STE qualifications are desirable but not required.
Must Have
Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
