Enterprise Systems (ES) plays a vital role in supporting Indiana University's mission critical business operations. Its comprehensive portfolio encompasses a wide array of applications, integrations, and infrastructure, spanning from Fireform to Indiana University's Constituent Relationship. It extends its support to a wide variety of systems, including student, financial, research, and human resources systems, and IU's design system. ES also encompasses identity systems and the IU Mobile app, among many other essential applications and services.

The ES Student Internship Program aims to connect students with internships in a variety of fields within the university with the goal of giving students a gradually challenging work experience while providing direction, guidance, supervision, and feedback that offer opportunities for growth and create a talent pool that will graduate from IU with a skill set that fits the current job market.

Job Summary

As an Enterprise Systems (ES) intern during Summer 2024, you will gain experience working to operationalize the implementation of Google Analytics (GA4) for ES applications. ES has developed and is implementing a division-wide standard for collecting system and feature metrics that includes reporting in support of decision-making.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Works with developers and analysts as they onboard their applications, work with Google Analytics data to maintain dashboards and make recommendations for future iterations. Metrics will be used to inform stakeholders and leadership as they make decisions about how best to utilize ES resources in the future.
  • Participates in tasks that support IU's implementation of a new student success software.
  • Participates in a cross functional development team. Tasks will include a functional fit gap analysis of the new platform, comparing to existing tools at IU, to identify gaps that should be addressed to provide the best student experience.
  • Analyzes could include hands-on functional testing from a student perspective as well as data mining to determine usage of various existing functionality. This analysis will help identify and prioritize future development work. This project is part of IU's commitment to student success and a key priority for UITS and the President.
  • This will be a great experience for someone hoping to practice existing skills while engaging in multiple perspectives within a professional team environment. It will help to develop technical, functional, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Provides real-world experience that will be directly applicable to a career in Information Technology.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled student at Indiana University.
Preferred
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on data science, analytics, informatics, or computer science.
SKILLS

Required
  • Good communication skills and an interest in metrics, data science and analytics.
Preferred
  • Ability to reflect, learn and adapt
  • Ability to take constructive feedback when sharing work
  • Ability to give constructive feedback when others share their work
  • Ability to self-direct learning and work
  • Attention to detail

Working Conditions / Demands

This position requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Location

This position can be based out of any IU campus.

This is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Advertised Salary

$20.00 per hour
