SUMMARY

This key leadership role provides environmental safety and health (EHS) support to all employees, encompassing warehouse, production, maintenance and administrative facilities. It is a hands-on position with key responsibilities that include the development and maintenance of a company safety program, internal safety audits, organization and facilitation of safety training and committee meetings

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
* Maintain active involvement in teams' safety committee functions and ensure coordination of changes based on approved committee recommendations.
* Identifying opportunities for development within the areas of EHS training, health and safety programs and OSHA compliance and incident reporting.
* Conduct facilities audits and inspections as required.
* Conduct job safety assessments and risk assessments as required.
* Provide oversight to Plant's hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling and transport program.
* Develop training and/or manage outsourcing of training to include: General safety awareness, machine guarding, hand and powered tool safety, ladder safety, LOTO, forklift, etc.
* Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractor / vendor personnel.
* Deliver EHS orientation to new and temporary team members.
* Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
* Review accidents and incidents and report and manage the corrective actions.
* Maintain and keeps accessible a current library of SDS sheets for all materials within the facility and in compliance with regulations. Assuring that access to SDS documentation is available for all employees (and user friendly).

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or Engineering or related technical discipline is required.
* 5-10 years' experience leading a Safety Department in a leadership role.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Professional certification (CSP, CEA, CIH, CHMM, etc.)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to provide calculations supporting industry hygiene and safety engineering matters.

JOB SKILLS

* Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PADEP, DOT, FDA, DHS regulations.
* Experience with ISO 9001/14001.
* Strong familiarities with US EHS laws and regulations.
* Workers' compensation administration experience required.
* Must be able to interact well at all levels of the organization.
* Prior experience managing environmental permits and culture change.
* Ability and willingness to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks and lead process implementation across a team environment.
* Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
* Innovative problem solver and self-starter with the ability to advocate for a point of view and convince others to take action.
* Strong oral and written communication abilities coupled with leadership skills.
