The Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission, whose mission is to eliminate discrimination in Nebraska, is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commission and work to ensure all Nebraskan's receive equal and fair treatment in employment, the workplace, housing and public accommodations. Examples of Work
In conjunction with the Commissioners, the Director will guide the strategic direction of the organization to meet the Commission's goal of Eliminating Discrimination in Nebraska. The hands-on Director will supervise staff, develop the agency's budget, present testimony to the Nebraska legislature and represent the Commission at meetings, conferences, civic functions and other activities. Director is also responsible for overseeing the agency's public education and outreach activities.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of a Master's or Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with at least five years of management or supervisory experience including budgetary and fiscal management. Combined training and experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Experience in human and civil rights law is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the investigation, complaint and mediation settlement processes; possess excellent communication skills; have the ability to exercise fair judgment in the handling of equal employment laws, investigations and enforcement. Must have a strong awareness of current and developing issues at the state and local level.
