Executive Director of Undergraduate Admission

Saint Xavier University (SXU), in partnership with the search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of Undergraduate Admission. The Executive Director is a key admissions and enrollment management professional who reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success. The Executive Director supports the vision, strategy, leadership, and management oversight for Saint Xavier University's recruitment and enrollment of new undergraduate students, including freshmen, transfers, and adult undergraduate students. They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in the undergraduate admission office and support the strategic enrollment management plan as outlined by the AVP for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success. The Executive Director provides collaborative, mission-centered leadership for enrollment management professionals dedicated to students from their admission to the University through to their graduation.

The Position:

The Executive Director is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the institution's strategic enrollment initiatives and outcomes. The Executive Director will also work closely with the offices of Financial Aid, Student Life, Academic Affairs and others to ensure student matriculation and support. Essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Develop, implement, manage, and assess recruitment plans and efforts to increase undergraduate student enrollment and achieve the University's headcount and net revenue goals.
  • Collaborate closely with deans, faculty, marketing, financial aid and other units to develop comprehensive enrollment plans and implement and assess recruitment strategies to meet/exceed the objectives of the plan.
  • Build comprehensive program-specific recruitment plans that complement and support University marketing plans.
  • Work collaboratively with enrollment and financial aid leveraging consultants to develop and implement recruitment and aid strategies.
  • Lead the managers of the unit's operations and contribute to the development of processes, policies, and procedures related to recruitment and enrollment, such as data management, application processing, use of recruitment databases (Technolutions Slate and Ellucian Colleague) etc. Implements operational objectives in-line with organization goals and objectives.
  • Select, hire, and manage admission staff and develop benchmarks and productivity indicators to assess performance.
  • Routinely analyze and report ROI for strategies/initiatives and recruitment funnel key performance indicators; measure and monitor conversion rates, application rates, yield, etc.
  • Assist in managing undergraduate admission recruitment communications using Technolutions Slate.
  • Manage web content related to recruitment and enrollment.
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (PDSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and manage compliance for the admission and enrollment of undergraduate international students.
  • Perform other projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required.
  • A minimum of five to eight years' admissions leadership experience leading undergraduate recruitment efforts are required.
  • Experience at a private college or university is preferred.
  • A track record of growing undergraduate headcount and revenue in a competitive environment is essential.
  • Experience as a designated school official (DSO) and previous work with international students is beneficial.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit is necessary, and management experience required.
  • Superior writing skills and experience creating effective marketing communications are essential.
  • Strong analytic and reporting ability, creativity and organizational skills required.
  • Strong computer skills using relational databases (Technolutions Slate) and MS Office are necessary.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple projects simultaneously is absolutely necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively on cross-functional committees and project teams needed.
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to bring projects to completion, meet deadlines, etc.
