VCA Laurelhurst Animal Hospital located in NE Portland, Oregon is looking for Experienced Veterinary Assistants to join their 6-doctor Small Animal Practice!

We are looking for experienced (2-year minimum) or certified Veterinary Assistants to provide excellent patient care with a focus on wellness and client education. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for preparing exam rooms for the doctors and assisting in providing care for the patients hospitalized in the treatment area.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity. Flexible scheduling. Typically, 4/10's

Compensation: $20 - $24 / hour. Pay dependent on experience

VCA Laurelhurst Animal Hospital is a growing and vibrant 6-doctor, AAHA accredited, small animal practice located in the Laurelhurst area of NE Portland. We have been serving the Laurelhurst community and surrounding area for many years. We are a fast-paced, modern, paperless hospital that provides wellness and preventative care, acupuncture, advanced nursing care, digital radiology, ultrasonography, surgery, dentistry, hospitalization, client education, and much more.

We are a supportive team dedicated to providing the highest level of patient and client care. The majority of our doctors & staff are Fear Free Certified. We are seeking FT experienced veterinary assistants who have a flexible schedule and a passion for the human-animal bond.

As a member of the VCA Laurelhurst team, you will support the Technician and Doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent-by delivering an outstanding client experience-so we can provide exceptional care to every patient. The skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to:

  • Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
  • Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
  • Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law).
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
  • Providing compassionate care and assistance for our hospitalized animals.
  • Maintaining medical records.
  • Assisting our wonderful Doctor and Technician staff as needed in the treatment area.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
