Description
History Nebraska is seeking a detail oriented self-starter to serve as the agency's primary HVAC and building Maintenance Specialist. As a member of the Facilities team, this position is accountable for daily monitoring of building automation systems, routine HVAV preventative maintenance, and building maintenance at two downtown Lincoln locations. This position works with state of the art computerized building systems to ensure optimal preservation of Nebraska's historic treasures. History Nebraska is a statewide educational institution that connects people to the past through our library and research center, conservation facility, interpretive sites, and the state archeology and historic preservation offices. Job location is 1500 R Street, Downtown

Examples of Work
• Daily monitoring of temps and humidity levels in buildings.
• Tracking building maintenance
• Maintaining maintenance supply inventory
• Routine plumbing maintenance
• Trouble shooting and identifying maintenance issues
• Contacting contractors for estimates
• Escorting contractors through the building for yearly inspections of various systems
• All other duties assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance trade and one year of experience OR three years' experience in skilled maintenance, construction or mechanical trades and experience leading/directing others in such work; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of advanced methods, tools and practices of various building trades.
• Skill in the use of a variety of basic hand tools
• Make accurate estimates of time and materials required to complete maintenance task
• Ability to use, operate hand, power tools and power equipment in a safe manor
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in building and mechanical maintenance trades
• Ability to communicate with staff, vendors, and the public in a professional way
• Ability travel to other HN sites on occasion
