Job Description
Responsibilities:

  • Travel to provide onsite operations support for IBA Proton Therapy sites in the United States.
    • Some international travel may be required for training or supporting sites in other regions.
    • Extended travel missions that could be up to 6 weeks away from home
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and behavior in line with the safety rules (EHS, radioprotection, electrical risk ...)
  • Ensure equipment ready on time for the customer, delivery of the beam in line with key performance indicators (throughput, customer satisfaction, uptime...)
  • operate and monitor technical parameters of the equipment/systems on daily basis. Secure the following:
    • P+ Advanced Operator Certified within first year of employment
    • P1 Advanced Operator Certified within first year of employment
  • Complete documentation on time: reports and follow-up of events, shift reports
  • Ensure daily report of operator activities and incident in the appropriate tools
  • Under the supervision of the Site Manager, Site Technical leader, or subject matter experts perform the following:
    • Test equipment/systems according to the specifications
    • Follow written procedures, without deviation, for execution of standard/minor (level 1) technical troubleshooting and analysis. Handle first level of debugging based on parameters available on the MCR screens
    • Provide hand/eyes to assist remote engineers and experts in troubleshooting errors and technical issues
    • Only implement corrective maintenance action plans provided by subject matter experts.
    • Perform simple maintenance tasks of Electrical, Mechanical, Vacuum, and Cooling Systems
  • Assist the Site Manager, Site Technical leader, or subject matter experts in repair and maintenance of the site. (Extra set of hands)
  • In accordance with IBA standard procedures, report and document interventions and actions undertaken with a proper level of detail and accuracy for sign-off and approval Site Manager, Site Technical leader, or subject matter experts, as applicable
  • Maintain a home-base at an IBA designated Proton Therapy Center, able to work from that location when not traveling.

Profile
Education and Experience:
  • AAS/AS/AA degree or equivalent work experience necessary
  • Experience in electronics/electrical system troubleshooting required.
  • Mechanical system repair, maintenance and operations of large systems a plus.
Computer Skills:
  • General Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook are a must.
  • Basic knowledge of UNIX and LINUX a plus, but not required.
  • SAP knowledge a plus, but not required.

Work Environment:
  • The position is a professional position and the conduct of such a position should be the basic expectation.

  • Maintain a home-base at an IBA designated Proton Therapy Center, able to work from that location when not traveling.
  • More than 40 hours per week is sometimes required.
  • Rotating shift work in 3-week intervals of afternoons and nights.
  • Occupational exposure to radiation
  • Work with high voltage equipment and high magnetic fields
  • Work with hazardous materials
  • Perform the essential functions of the job
    • Working at heights which includes 4 feet or higher
    • Climbing ladders
    • Standing, sitting or stooping for long periods of time
