Job Summary

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) on the IUPUI campus seeks qualified candidates for the Assistant Dean for Finance and Resource Management position. The Assistant Dean is responsible for the development and oversight of fiscal affairs, human resources, compliance, and management of facilities. The Assistant Dean will provide expertise for the strategic planning and operational goals for the IUSON core campus schools (IUPUI, Bloomington, Fort Wayne). This position will represent the school and the Dean on fiscal affairs and other strategic matters. As a member of the IUSON core Executive Team, the Assistant Dean maintains a collaborative relationship with associate deans, department chairs, and other school administrators. Duties and responsibilities include budgets and general fiscal affairs, scholarship awards, compliance with donor intent and accounting, human resources, compliance, sponsored programs, funded research, and physical facilities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field and five years of related functional experience and three years of management experience.

Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, management skills, and strong organizational skills. Proficient communication skills. Multifaceted, detailed work, multiple concurrent tasks, constant interruptions, problem solving, fiscal planning, and budgetary constraints. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Excellent collaboration and team building skills. Effectively coaches and delivers constructive feedback. Instills commitment to organizational goals. Effective conflict management skills. Builds and manages effective teams. Ability to represent the company with external constituents. Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion. Experience using large scale financial platforms in and/or for a variety of financial operations. Advanced ability to interpret financial documents from an accounting, policy, and practice perspective. Experience in project management, user-testing, and implementation and/or development of financial structures, policies, and procedures. Ability to mine data from multiple sources and integrate into usable formats. Ability to clearly present material and make it accessible to a variety of audiences. Intermediate accounting skills and an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to understand and interpret financial policies, regulations, and pertinent state/federal laws. Analytical and futuristic thinking, self-starter, and independent functioning. Knowledge of human resources laws and procedures as related to managing staff; Knowledge and understanding of the importance of mentors and mentorships.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education and healthcare.

Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, presentation e-mail and database. Basic navigation in web/internet-based applications.
