Position Overview

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst! The primary function of the Financial Analyst is to assist the Finance team and the Manufacturing Unit Management in forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis required to make sound business decisions to support the Plant's objectives and build shareholder value.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Some duties of a successful candidate would include but not be limited to:

  • Provide training, help to resolve issues, answer questions, and perform analysis that will support operations in their assigned manufacturing unit.
  • Performing month-end activities such as completing & uploading journal entries and forecasts in SAP, exporting data from multiple sources to review & analyze actual results against plan and forecast, and perform account reconciliations.
  • Build analytical models utilizing both financial and non-financial data to forecast and analyze operating results. Be able to clearly articulate results back to management in order to drive better business decisions.
  • Facilitate manufacturing unit management in annual planning and monthly forecasting cycles.
  • Perform year-end activities such as the annual standards updates in SAP, overhead cost allocations, LIFO, government reports/surveys, and audit requests.
  • Support World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement activities by participating in cross-functional business projects and gain a comprehensive knowledge of the operational cost drivers to better support project initiatives.
  • Perform regular deep-dive analyses into production related cost variances to help management identify losses and target areas of improvement.
  • Analyze and report on inventory variances and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.

Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-2 years experience in financial planning, forecasting and analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel is a must.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical skills in business performance metrics are required, extensive financial modeling experience.
  • Ability to think independently, synthesize data and make proactive, concise recommendations based on findings. Thrives on ability to work autonomously.
  • Creative and innovative team player with a positive approach and a focus on business issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful relationships with plant leadership and regional office personnel.
  • Willingness to take on additional projects and multi-task with changing priorities, as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines with emphasis on sustained accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Hyperion preferred. Manufacturing experience a plus.

Novelis' Oswego facility is located on Lake Ontario in north-central New York and employs approximately 1100 people.
