JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut, College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources is seeking applicants to fill two (2) full-time Financial Assistant 1 positions. The College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) works to ensure a sustainable global future through research, teaching, and public engagement utilizing agricultural, health, and environmental sciences. Under initial supervision of the Business Operations Specialist 3, the incumbent(s) will process and maintain a complete set of financial records and financial transactions for the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide financial, administrative, and program support for assigned area(s)
- Prepare standard university reports for the College, and provide assessments as needed
- Serve as a liaison with Sponsored Programs Services and assist in the management of post-award budgets and accounts, including monitoring current projects and closeouts of completed projects for various units within the College
- Monitor, track, and review financial records for accuracy and prepare reports as needed
- Review, monitor, and validate faculty effort on sponsored projects
- Review and approve allowable expenses within budget limits
- Provide support on processing Foundation disbursement for all units within the College, and reconciling account transactions
- Submit, review, and approve financial and payroll transactions
- Assist in budget preparation, including annual department budget meetings, and budget construction
- Perform other financial and administrative duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociate's degree in related field and two to three years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and professional experienceKnowledge of accounting practices and procedures or related analytical fieldAbility to work independently and in a team settingExcellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to establish good working relationships with coworkers and a variety of constituentsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailClear, positive, and professional written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skillsDemonstrated customer service skillsAbility to problem-solve, expertly manage time and deadlines, and skillfully juggle prioritiesProficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in related field and one to three years of related experienceExperience working in a fiscal operation in higher educationExperience working with people from diverse academic, socio-economic, and cultural backgroundsExperience with Kuali Financial Systems, Husky Buy, PageUp, Concur, or similar enterprise systemsAPPOINTMENT TERMSThis is a full-time, twelve-month, UCPEA staff position with an excellent benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience, ranging in the $40's.
