The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Certified Nurse Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administration Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Plumbing, Painting, Security and Protective Services, HVAC, Landscaping, Electrical, and Building Construction Technology.

Ensures that food, supplies and equipment are available as needed and stored properly when not in use. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of food for meals. Provides kitchen clean-up to facilitate sanitizing of all food service areas.
May supervise Job Corps' Work-Based Learning and Leisure Time Student employees.

Shriver Job Corps is looking for a dedicated Food Service Assistant to join our team. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive dining experience for our students, contributing to their overall success and well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation:
    • Assist in the preparation of well-balanced and nutritious meals for students and staff.
    • Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Kitchen Operations:
    • Support kitchen operations, including food storage, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
    • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Service Excellence:
    • Contribute to a positive dining experience by providing courteous and efficient service during meal times.
    • Collaborate with the Food Service team to address special dietary needs and preferences.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with the Food Service Manager and team members to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
    • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
    • Assist in monitoring and maintaining compliance with relevant health department standards.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred. Experience in a food services operation desired. Ability to obtain local Food Handling/Health Certification required. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
