As the G/L Accounting Manager, you will be an outstanding leader and manager, able to strike the right balance of accounting integrity with business practicality. You will lead and direct a general ledger team capable of being a key contributor to a changing retail environment. You will lead the month-end close, managed fixed asset reporting, take charge of real estate accounting, assist with the annual audit and work on special projects as needed. In this role, you will be exposed to many facets of specialty retail in an omni-channel environment.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of general ledger accounting, including month-end and quarter-end close, quarterly reviews, and annual audit.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with the Company's accounting policies and procedures environment, including leasing, capitalized software, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, payroll accounting, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Manage the Real Estate accounting function to ensure landlords are paid according to lease agreements.
  • Perform variance analysis between actual expenses to forecast and support monthly financial statement balances by resolving outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, Marketing, IT and other business owners to understand and advise on the related accounting impact of business transactions.
  • Partner with our Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting group to help understand and implement new GAAP and reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of the Annual Report including footnotes and disclosures through the detailed review and preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Own the continual development and execution of control structures for GL accounting in accordance with established requirements.
  • Develop and prepare internal management reporting documents to support company decision making and analysis.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA is strongly preferred.
  • Strong accounting background with 5 plus years of experience in a public company with management responsibility of the close process. Experience in retail and eCommerce is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Public Accounting, preferably with "BIG 4" or a top tier firm.
  • Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others, and motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Have excellent technical accounting skills with detailed understanding of current GAAP standards and experience in exercising judgment and developing accounting positions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and superior organization skills are required.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple priorities, communicate progress and execute effectively.
  • Experience with Lawson accounting software desired.
  • Personal computer up to 30 hours per week
