NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of General Ledger, Senior Accountant based in our Daytona Beach, Florida office.

This position is responsible for general ledger functions, including but not limited to month end close, journal entries, general ledger research, chart of accounts maintenance and performance of consolidation activities for financial statement close. Provides analysis, reporting and documentation for external audit procedures and other regulatory compliance matters.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for managing month end close process - prepares and posts journal entries, prepares balance sheet account reconciliations and other analysis as assigned, researches account balances and oversees compliance of account reconciliations. Close responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Recognition and deferral of revenue and expenses in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepares calculations or analysis to determine appropriate month end entries
  • Expense accruals
  • Manages insurance reserve adjustments and prepaid insurance
  • Other assigned accounts of varying complexity

• Analyzes variances over assigned accounts and provides explanations and proposed solutions.
• Responsible for completion of assigned month-end reporting and developing new reporting as requested.
• Performs analysis and other assessments related to the preparation of financial statements for licensing trust and 501c3 entity.
• Assists with the financial data model for Workday with the maintenance of Worktags. Works with business personnel to understand changes to the system configuration and determines appropriateness of the request. Executes approved changes.
• Prepares government census reports and various other regulatory compliance reporting.
• Obtains and reviews required support schedules for annual audits.

Required skills / experience:

• Bachelor's degree and 3 years of solid accounting experience and/or training.
• 2 years of public accounting experience is highly preferred.
• CPA certified or CPA eligible candidate also preferred.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the application of them for various types of transactions.
• Knowledge of consolidations and eliminations are highly desirable.
• Must be able multi-task and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
• Must be able to self-direct to accomplish job responsibilities.
• Must maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.
• This position will be required to work overtime, as needed, to meet the objectives of the position and the department.
