At a mammoth 2.66-miles with 33 degrees of banking in the turns, it is NASCAR's Most Competitive venue. The "Fun" track prides itself on being family friendly, especially with the introduction of the Talladega Garage Experience in 2019 where guests are immersed into motorsports like never before. The host of two major NASCAR weekends a year, the iconic ribbon of asphalt is easy accessible off I-20, located between Birmingham, AL, and Atlanta, GA.

Talladega Superspeedway seeks a talented professional to join Facility Operations Team for the General Maintenance - Mechanic position based in Talladega, Alabama.

SUMMARY: Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair procedures to include lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing equipment. Participate in facility operations general maintenance. Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer system & programs, cellular phone. Microsoft Office suite knowledge preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs major repairs or services to all equipment and vehicles
  • Visually inspects, operates and listens to equipment to diagnose malfunctions
  • Dismantles and reassembles trucks, machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas and make repairs
  • Tests repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems on equipment
  • Ability to operate and maintain many different pieces of equipment including vehicles, lifts and other heavy machinery
  • Understands Hydraulic systems and can repair hoses and rebuild cylinders
  • Uses hand and power tools for various maintenance repairs
  • Preforms asphalt and concrete repairs on racing surfaces
  • Performs fence and Safer Barrier repairs
  • Welding experience with certifications/MIG,TIG,Stick
  • Welds, cuts and fabrication skills
  • Works with metal, wood, fiberglass
  • Assist with construction projects
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Performs plumbing repairs on water lines, valves and pumps
  • Performs preventive building maintenance duties
  • Maintains the overall condition of the mechanics building
  • Provides general housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean facility
  • Basic computer skills are necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Alabama driver's license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
